Firstly – the crew here at Offroad Cartel would like to thank all of you for your support over the last few years as our Dirt Lifestyle brand has grown from strenght to strenght. We have enjoyed the many events and hours of catching up with all you guys and girls around the nation at different events. We appreciate your purchase and have been putting in 200% to put back into the Offroad Lifestyle that we love and support!
That said there is absolutely no sign of slowing down in 2012! We have already locked in a number of new event sponsorship deals – including stepping up our involvement with Tuff Truck 2012 and moving into a Track Sponsor Position! Which we are extrememly excited about! We also have a number of key events that we will be at doing a range of supporting roles – including selling all the OC Gear! We are also expanding our ever growing list of Sponsored Drivers this year to be inclusive of all dirtsports that we can possibly be involved with! We believe in giving back to the lifestyle and encouraging new enthusiasts to follow their dreams! Well it’s been another fantastic weekend in the Dirt! Rock Rash Racing’s Dave Camp & Hayden Smith made the trek up from Sydney to race KOTR2011 @ Scenic Rim Adventure Park – with plenty of hype surrounding this event – the boys put in plenty of prep and plenty of pre-run time to make sure that they were ready to take on the challange.
Running their distinctive Blue 40 based Ultra4 Buggy, Dave & Hayden are no stranger to the challanges of National Offroad Competition coming fresh off of their Tuff Truck Challange 2011 win along with numurous years of competition experience including a trip to the USA to compete in the WEROCK series.
Unfortunately the boys had issues early on with their alternator failing before even moving off the start line on Saturday morning. However in their never say die attitude that epitomises this great team – the boys worked solidly to run some super quick times just 1 second off of Matt Dunk’s fastest time in his new Ultra4 racer – showing just how much of a threat the formidable Rock Rash Crew could be!

The OC Crew had another fantastic weekend away racing. Darren Green and Wayne Smith headed to the ARB Silver City 600 @ Broken Hill – racing their 4800 GU Patrol in the Production Class in this epic event. Not only did they dominate their own class taking home the 1st place trophy – they stood on the 2nd step of the podium overall! Which is a simply spectacular result considering the level of modification in the field! Congrats to FTG Racing on their brilliant results and for flying the OC flag so successfully at this truely National Event!
Shawn Swaffield and Brenton Thomson also had a busy weekend with the boys headed to Mud Bulls & Music held at LandCruiser Mountain Park. The 2 Diesel Class competitiors had a great weekend on and off the track – including some spectator enthralling Caravan Racing behind their Nissan Patrols! This had the crowds cheering (and laughing) as the boys raced around the Super Rally X track with what was remaining of these abandoned caravans! As well as having a good laugh – both the boys are serious competitiors and after the fun they got down to business! Shawn Swaffield took home 1st Diesel Hill Drags, 1st Diesel Super Rally X and 2nd Overall Super Rally X – just 5 tenths of a second slower than Brent Perret in his Twin Turbo V8 GU! Shawn is definately stepping it up with his huge HP 4.2 TDs! Brenton Thomson unfortunately didn’t fair quite as well – Brenton was running 3rd and made his way into the finals only to push a little too hard and having a little lay over in his trademark 888 GU ute. As dissappointing as it was Brenton still had his trademark grin in place and has vowed to be back again next year for some more fun!

The Offroad Cartel Crew headed off for another weekend in the dirt at the Retreat 250 held by the Mackay Offroad Club. With a bumper lineup of 28 cars headed into the North Queensland Super Series the #24 of Nev Taylor and #6 of Josh Curran were prep’d ready to rumble due to the cancellation of the Gundy 400. #24 & #6 wow’d the crowds with their big jumps in the spectator areas and full throttle attacks on the tight corners near the pits – however it was out the back where things got interesting! With a tight technical course and 2 of the biggest race cars at the event – the OC Crew had to drive a precise race to keep lap times down but keep the vehicles circulating with all 4 wheels still attached! The pairing of Nev Taylor & Aaron Benson in the #24 took home 1st in ProBuggy! Unfortunately the #6 of Josh Curran didn’t fair quite so well with a gearbox failure on the 2nd last lap putting the young driver out of the hunt for the trophies. But it doesn’t stop there – with the OC Crew headed to Lowmead for the 3 car challange and a number of racers headed to Mud Bulls & Music – there is no break for the OC Crew as we head off for the next adventure in the dirt!
